SemiQon and CMC Microsystems announce a collaboration to accelerate development and access to quantum computing with silicon-based processors
February 7, 2024 - SemiQon from Finland, and Canada’s CMC Microsystems announce a collaboration agreement to advance silicon-based quantum processor technology. Under the terms of the agreement, SemiQon will supply CMC with prototypes of its semiconductor-based quantum processor chips for research purposes. CMC scientists will collaborate with SemiQon to accelerate the development of processors for more powerful quantum computers suitable for the next generation of quantum computing – the million-qubit era.

Shared infrastructure environment for the development of quantum technologies to be built in Jyväskylä
A significant new Business Finland funding accelerates the progress of Finnish quantum technology. A shared infrastructure environment is being built at the University of Jyväskylä's Nanoscience Center for researching and developing quantum technology platforms. The infrastructure will be open to both public and private research, and users will include university researchers as well as start-up companies. This is the only infrastructure in Finland that is openly available and focuses specifically on semiconductor-based quantum technologies. Shared infrastructures are still rarities internationally.

SemiQon and Qblox secure €2.5 million EIC Transition funding
The European Innovation Council has approved a €2.5 million grant funding to SemiQon, a leading developer of silicon-based quantum processors and Qblox, a leading provider of scalable and modular qubit control stacks. The goal of the project is to build high quality silicon-based spin-qubits and the tools to control and operate them sustainably, using a scalable quantum computing control stack. The project will be coordinated by SemiQon.
